Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's Commitment to Community Involvement

Matthew Mankins has the privilege of serving as the Community Outreach Manager for Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in the Las Vegas valley. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1963 in Southern California. Over the years, they’ve grown into a global brand, known and loved for their signature beverages, including the world-renowned Original Ice Blended drink. Here in Las Vegas, their journey began in 2002 when Las Vegas Coffee Investors (LVCI) opened the first CBTL location. Since then, they have expanded to 13 locations across the valley, each one serving as more than just a place to grab a coffee—it’s a hub for community connection and support.

At Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, they believe in giving back to the communities that support them. Dedication to social responsibility is woven into everything that they do. One standout initiative is the CBTL workforce development program, which partners with nonprofits like HELP of Southern Nevada to offer job opportunities to disadvantaged youths. This program is about more than just employment; it’s about giving young people the tools and support they need to build a brighter future.

CBTL’s commitment to the community doesn’t stop there- every spring, their team heads to Mt. Charleston for cleanup events, ensuring that one of our valley’s natural treasures remains beautiful for all to enjoy. Their team also takes part in toy donations for the Ogden Family Foundation and contributes back-to-school supplies through Project 150, helping local students start the school year off right.

During the holiday season, efforts ramp up even more. Donations of coffee and hot chocolate at the Salvation Army in December and volunteering to serve those experiencing homelessness are just a few of the ways in which the CBTL staff give back. Additionally, they volunteer at The Magical Forest at Opportunity Village, supporting efforts to create a magical experience for everyone who visits.

CBTL is also proud to contribute to the Asian Pacific Community Awareness initiative, which supports the UMC Children’s Hospital Christmas and Veterans Fundraiser. These are just a few examples of how CBTL strives to make a positive impact throughout the year.

Upcoming Events 

CBTL is excited to share that from October 11-13, they will be donating coffee and pastries to the Summerlin Festival of Arts, a fantastic event that brings together the community to celebrate creativity and culture. Additionally, on Friday, September 27th, they will be supporting the Tea, Trends, and Tranquility event organized by HELP of Southern Nevada at the Waldorf Astoria. It’s another wonderful opportunity to give back while enjoying some of the finer things in life!

CBTL loves their customers and are always looking for ways to show appreciation. Veterans, military members, police officers, firefighters, seniors, and teachers all receive a 10% discount at all Las Vegas area locations. It’s a small way of saying ‘thank you for all you do’. Additionally, the CBTL loyalty app is a hit with customers who earn points with every purchase that can be redeemed for free drinks and bakery items. Always looking for ways to connect with the community, CBTL regularly hosts game nights, trivia nights, and live music events at area locations.
